Target Audience

Food Enthusiasts and Home Cooks

Age: 18-33

Interests: Cooking, experimenting with recipes

Usage: Regularly cook at home, interested in trying new recipes and sharing their creations on social media.

Research Method

Qualitative 1-on-1 Interviews were utilized in order to gain deeper understanding of the frustrations and pain points users have pertaining to sourcing recipes online to cook. Interviewees were sat down one-by-one and asked a series of standardized questions within 20-30 minutes.

First time users are prompted with tips that help guide the user flow around the app.

The most immediately sought after actions are placed conveniently in the top corners. 

Once the cooking process has started, a banner pops up as a reminder, tapping it will lead to the timer page.

Custom timers in addition to the automatically set ones, to help keep track of anything.

Mature/ Muted Color Palette to reflect the target audience.

Ideation

Multiple Timers

Allowing users to track multiple instances of complex recipes, allowing the following of the recipe to be much easier and more organized. Users can add additional recipes and the timers will update to include new ones.

Easy Browsing & Sharing

Users can browse and gain inspiration via the Explore page. Where recipes are ranked by likes & shares, prompting users with the tastiest recipes. Filters are easily accessible allowing for tailored searched based on cravings.

Recipes That Connect People

By implementing social media features, users can share their own or other’s interesting recipes, which allows a cooking community to flourish. People can find foods they normally wouldn’t have and be proud sharing their own published recipes.
